Garnett reunites with Rivers and Pierce as Clippers consultant

Garnett will work out during practice with the Clippers’ big men but will not travel with the team or be present at games.

The Clippers officially hired former Celtics star Kevin Garnett as a consultant, reuniting him with former Celtics coach Doc Rivers and Celtics legend Paul Pierce.

Clippers Assistant Coach Woodson added “I’m happy he’s part of our family now. Because he brings so much to the table, has so much to offer for the game of basketball, it’s not even amusing”.

Apparently, the Clippers are paying KG to spend more time with the organization, as Garnett worked with the Clippers big men.

“Amazing. Amazing. Amazing”, Jordan said of Garnett.

“I don’t know if he’s ahead of schedule, on schedule, but all things are go for him – and that’s very positive for us”, Rivers said.

“He’s a great spirit, a great basketball mind, a Hall of Fame guy, somebody I looked up to coming up and even playing the game”, Clippers center DeAndre Jordan told reporters in Los Angeles Tuesday. “He’s had some communication, I’m sure, with some of the players throughout the course of the season since camp”.

Garnett is one of the best big men in the history of the National Basketball Association. “He’ll work with the bigs and just give knowledge to anyone who wants it”.

Jordan credits Garnett as one of the main reasons he talks as often and as loudly as he does. Because when I’m watching film of him or playing against him, the presence that he has – on both ends of the floor – is something that’s contagious.

The power forward was a 15-time All-Star and NBA MVP in 2004 in stints with the Minnesota Timberwolves, Boston Celtics, and New Jersey Nets.
