O’Reilly, who has been off the air on vacation since April 11, said in a written statement he was proud of the “unprecedented success” at Fox.

Representatives at Fox News and its parent Twenty-First Century Fox Inc were not immediately available for comment.
As Us Weekly reported earlier on Wednesday, 21st Century Fox said in a statement that “after a thorough and careful review of the allegations, the Company and Bill O’Reilly have agreed that Bill O’Reilly will not be returning to the Fox News Channel”.
Stephen Colbert brought back his Colbert Report alter ego to say farewell to Bill O’Reilly, who was forced out at Fox News on Wednesday, April 19, after numerous sexual assault allegations surfaced in recent weeks.
As satisfying as it is to see “Stephen Colbert” get the bad news about his beloved O’Reilly, we hope this extra dose of fake Bill O’Reilly doesn’t have disgusting consequences for the universe’s O’Reilly levels (the so-called “O’Reilly factor.”) But without more federal funding for research, there’s no way to be sure just how much Bill O’Reilly is out there at any one time.
And he keeps echoing in the broader media landscape.
“That left CNN and MSNBC to figure out how to survive, and it shouldn’t come as a surprise that MSNBC figured out the only path to success was to segment and go for the liberal audience”, said Tom Hollihan, a professor at the Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism at the University of Southern California.
“He helped shape the kind of very polarized discourse that has come to define politics over the past few years in America”, Hollihan said. “The O’Reilly Factor” has generated a huge ad bonanza for Fox, one that yielded more than $178 million in 2015. His audience was larger in the first three months of this year than it has ever been, according to Nielsen.
But after the New York Times report, advertisers including BMW of North America, Allstate Corp, French pharmaceuticals maker Sanofi SA and T. Rowe Price, pulled their advertising from O’Reilly’s primetime The O’Reilly Factor show.
After the Times story, 21st Century Fox said it had asked the same law firm that investigated Ailes to look into O’Reilly’s behavior.
An internal 21st Century Fox memo obtained by ABC News said that the “decision follows an extensive review done in collaboration with outside counsel”.
With a profit centre gone, 21st Century Fox stock fell nearly 1% on Wednesday in heavy trading.
A Vatican photograph showed O’Reilly shaking hands with Pope Francis after a general audience Wednesday, but it was not clear if the Pope knew who the television host was.
“It is tremendously disheartening that we part ways due to completely unfounded claims”, he said.
Media giant 21st Century Fox on Wednesday announced the ouster of Fox News television host Bill O’Reilly amid accusations of sexual harassment presented against him.
O’Reilly’s attorney claimed on Tuesday that his client – a long-time conservative media icon – had been the target of a “smear campaign” financed by leftwing activist organisations. Fox said conservative pundit Tucker Carlson would move into O’Reilly’s time slot – the second time in three months he has replaced an exiting prime-time personality.
