Dad: Fresno suspect blamed whites for drug use

“What he told our detectives last night, was that once he saw he was wanted for murder, he was not going to go down for shooting a security guard for disrespecting him, but that he was going to kill as many white males as possible“, said Fresno Police Chief Jerry Dyer.

A black man accused of shooting three people to death in Fresno, California, wanted to kill as many white men as possible because he expected to be arrested for another shooting, police said on Wednesday, calling the incident a hate crime.

Police say Muhammad gave rare and unusual details about his movements and the killings over several hours of questioning following his arrest, even returning with officers to the crimes scenes and demonstrating his actions. – Muhammad then ran, climbed onto roof of the nearby 7/11 and hid out through the night.

Dyer said Muhammad told investigators he hid on a rooftop after Thursday’s murder and watched investigators enter and leave the Motel 6.

The next day, police said Muhammad took a city bus to Herndon & Milburn where he hid in a ravine until Tuesday.

Muhammad then went to a store to buy crystals for more voodoo rituals, but the business was closed, so he instead went into a Starbucks, where he connected to Wi-Fi and read online news reports that he was suspected for the Motel 6 shooting. He told police he noticed the driver was Latino and the passenger was white so he shot four rounds into the passenger side. – Muhammad continued west on Mildreda, saw a auto parked and saw two individuals inside the vehicle, the auto started to drive away, Muhammad fired one round at the vehicle, he then noticed they were two Hispanic females, he then stopped firing at the vehicle.

Mark Gassett, 37, was standing on a sidewalk near Catholic Charities. The couple has two children. He shot and the men scattered. – Muhammad continued west on Mildreda where he saw a man, fired twice and hit the victim.

Jackson and his roommate, Mark Greer, had only stopped at the building to use the bathroom.

Police said Muhammad then ran southbound on Fulton with his gun wrapped in some clothes.

Dyer said they have several pointers as to who the suspect is, including a box of food the man left behind, but would rather he come forward.

He surrendered while shouting: “Allahu Akhbar”, which means “God is great” in Arabic, police said, adding they had not yet recovered the weapon Muhammad discarded. – Muhammad ran south on Fulton to Divisadero, saw a police auto, dropped two objects, did not continue to flee and was arrested by the officer.
