Donald Trump accuses Hillary Clinton for email scandal of Democratic party

Democratic National Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz said Sunday afternoon that she would quit as head of the party this week, after leaked emails appeared to show bias against Bernie Sanders during his primary challenge to Hillary Clinton.

Sanders will address the full convention Monday night.

“We have planned a great and unified Convention this week and I hope and expect that the DNC team that has worked so hard to get us to this point will have the strong support of all Democrats in making sure this is the best convention we have ever had”.

The controversy over Wasserman Schultz came as the party looks to project unity following last week’s often fractious Republican convention.

In the wake of the email leak, Democratic Party officials are negotiating to significantly downgrade the public role of Wasserman Schultz at the convention, according to a top Democratic Party source.

Sanders delegate Bob Hagan of Youngstown, a former state representative, said, “I’m hearing from some that they’re really (angry) and it might take a little while before we can get them all together”. And at first, she forgot to use the actual gavel.

Speaking to CNN on Sunday, Sanders said he was outraged but not shocked.

Campaigning in North Carolina, Trump seemed to revel in the Democrats’ commotion, telling supporters that Clinton made a mistake by not choosing a more liberal running mate to appease Sanders’ base. Oregon Senator Jeff Merkley told the conventioneers “we owe enormous debt to Bernie Sanders, and his “bold solutions”.

Sanders endorsed Clinton two weeks ago after pressing for the party platform to include a $15-an-hour minimum wage, debt-free college and an expansion of access to health care.

Brazile, who is vice chair of the DNC, has been named interim chair through the election. Bernie Sanders’ presidential bid.

To replace her for the week, Democrats tapped Fudge to chair the convention this week, which she called “an honor”.

“I mean there’s no question to my mind and I think no question to any objective observer’s mind that the DNC was supporting Hillary Clinton, and was at opposition to our campaign”, Sanders said.

But on the eve of Clinton’s nominating convention, some prominent Democrats, including friends of the Clintons, were openly calling on Wasserman Schultz to step down and spare the party the distraction this week. WikiLeaks has released nearly 20,000 emails among top DNC officials, especially in the communications staff, and has created a searchable database for them. “We know that the voices in this room that are standing up and being disruptive, we know that’s not the Florida that we know”, Wasserman Schultz shouted over the crowd. Sanders had demanded earlier in the day that Wasserman Schultz resign. I think I read he is an atheist.

Given this course of events, much hinges on Sanders’ speech at the Democratic Convention on Monday evening. Wasserman Schultz’s announcement Sunday follows a firestorm over hacked emails suggesting the Democratic National Committee favored Clinton during the primary, despite pledging neutrality. Tim Kaine, himself a former DNC chair.

“Let us declare, so that generations yet unborn can hear us, ‘We are the United States of America, our best days are ahead of us!” Clinton’s campaign manager, Robby Mook, tried to shift blame away from DNC officials to “Russian state actors” who, he said, may have hacked into DNC computers “for the objective of helping Donald Trump”, the Republican presidential nominee.
