Amazon.com has scheduled its second annual Prime Day, a one-day sales event, for Tuesday. The day is only available to Amazon Prime subscribers but the online retailer is offering a free 30-day Prime subscription for those wanting to take advantage of the more than 100,000 deals that will be available. There will be no minimum purchase amount involved. “Customers have the opportunity to support small businesses by purchasing unique products at a great price with fast, free shipping, and it helps sellers prepare for the upcoming holiday season by providing feedback and more customer reviews on their new and top selling products”. Its tag reads: “Deals for all”. You can browse the Prime Day Deals page or visit any category page to find the deals. However, the company has also put up a tag on its website reading “Prime Savings”. Those who just want to avail of the special Prime Day deals can cancel the registration before the 30-day trial period ends.

Shoppers with an Echo device can use Amazon’s voice-command assistant Alexa to make purchases. The sales on Prime Day are only available to customers with Amazon Prime memberships, which cost $99 annually and offer free two-day shipping on millions of items.

Prime Day is a day of deals to thank shoppers for being members of Amazon.

Walmart.com is also now offering rollbacks and, on a special “Dare to compare” page, other “lower prices” on hundreds of items that are “at or lower than Amazon’s prices”. Sites like Walmart.com, eBay, BestBuy and FreeShipping.com do not require membership to capitalize on the deals they offer. It’s also going to provide discounts on electronics in order to compete with Amazon’s upcoming mega sale.
