Brad Marchand is Bruins game-changer

Brad Marchand has changed his game to the point where he can change a game.Best known as an elite pest for most of his time with the Boston Bruins, Marchand has evolved this season into a dangerous scorer and playmaker. His name is near the top of scoring table, with the likes of Sidney Crosby, Connor McDavid and Patrick Kane. This is already Marchand’s best season, points-wise. His 37 goals heading into Monday’s game tied his output for all of last season. His 42 assists had eclipsed his previous career best (28 in 2013-14). He’s actually on pace to have more points than penalty minutes.“He keeps improving, from one year to the next,” centre Patrice Bergeron said. “This year, he’s taken an even further step forward.“From the World Cup on, he really took off. He’s definitely an elite player and superstar in this league. He’s proving that. He’s been a lot of fun to watch, but also a lot of fun to play with.”Article Continued BelowMarchand was named the NHL player of the week Monday, for a five-goal, four-assist performance over three games last week.“Lately, he’s been a guy who’s determined to score every time he gets the puck,” Boston coach Bruce Cassidy said. “It hasn’t affected his 200-foot game. He’s still one of our best penalty killers and one of our best five-on-five players away from the puck.“(Scoring) is just an area of his game that has grown. He could always shoot it, he could always finish. Now you see him making more plays. He’s a guy that’s got a complete game going right now, and he’s hot.”
