Police officers shot and killed a woman in the Bronx Tuesday as she swung a bat at them and refused to drop it, sources said. The shooting occurred as police responded to a call of an emotionally disturbed individual on Pugsley Avenue in the Castle Hill section, according to law enforcement sources. A sergeant fired on the individual when she refused to drop the weapon, sources said. The woman was struck twice in the chest. She was taken to the hospital where she died. It was not clear if any officers were injured.
