Welcoming former Union Home Secretary Anil Baijal who took charge as Delhi’s Lt Governor, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday said that he hoped for cooperation from him to resume “stalled work”. The oath was administered by Delhi High Court Chief Justice G Rohini. The oath – to serve the people of Delhi – was taken in a ceremony on the lawns of Raj Niwas.Baijal also held some key posts such as Chief Secretary of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Additional Secretary in the Information & Broadcast Ministry and the Vice Chairman of the Delhi Development Authority.At a function here to release the Delhi Assembly calendars and diary for the year 2017, Kejriwal said he hoped to work with the new Lt Governor for the betterment of Delhi.On previous Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung’s tussle with the Delhi government, he said, “This is speculative. You will get to know”.Presently, Baijal is associated with the Vivekananda International Foundation.”Delhi is a megapolis city which has several problems like women safety, law and order, huge population, infrastructure, civic agencies and congestion. In the last few months, some works of the Delhi government have come to standstill”, Kejriwal said later.Baijal’s family including his daughter and son, now living at their Greater Kailash residence would shift to Raj Niwas with him.Baijal replaced Najeeb Jung, who resigned on December 22.
