‘Mohawk Girls’ set to make Season 4 debut

Mohawk Girls will be making a return for its fourth season on Oct. 25 at 9:30 p.m.The show focuses on four Mohawk women in their 20s who are experiencing life as a Mohawk in the 21st century while trying to find love.“It’s important for us to show the commonalities between different cultures and how ultimately we’re all the same,” Cynthia Knight, Mohawk Girls head writer, said. “Hopefully this demystifies stereotypes and preconceived notions about Mohawk people and native people in general.”Season four has been filmed in Kahnawake although the girls do visit Montreal during the season.

“You hope for the best and you plan for the best so we absolutely were hoping for this,” Tracey Deer, Mohawk Girls co-creator, said. “To be actually living it now and have our fourth season coming out it’s surreal.”The show has been nominated for several Canadian Screen Awards. This season will feature eight episodes allowing more time to develop story lines, Knight said.“We try to make sure that everything in the show is very world specific, but also has a universal appeal,” Knight said. “So anyone from any background can relate to the issues and see herself in it.The series airs on APTN.
