Shayne Ward Sex Tape: Explicit Video Of 'Coronation Street' Star Hits The Internet After Catfishing Scam

Shayne Ward has been caught up in a sex tape scandal, with the Coronation Street star saying he is “hugely embarrassed” after the explicit video hit the internet. The video began making the rounds early this week, showing the actor and former X Factor winner alone and allegedly performing a sex act. The clips and video spread around on social media, prompting Ward to make a statement noting that the video itself was taken several years ago. “This video is years old. Shayne was single at the time and it happened when he was on tour with War of the Worlds,” his representative told the Sun. “He’s so embarrassed this has happened. The conversation between him and the supposed woman have left him hugely red faced. He can’t believe anyone would do this.” The rep claimed that Shayne Ward was tricked into making the sex tape during what he thought was a private chat. Ward later realized he had been catfished and that the video was released to the internet. For those unfamiliar with the term, catfishing refers to an online deception in which one person misrepresents themselves in a romantic context. This can refer to outright scams or instances when a person wishes to seek a romantic relationship by fooling their partner into thinking they are younger or more attractive. It appears that Shayne Ward’s sex tape may have been part of an extortion plot. A now-deleted Twitter account called CelebrityBusted had offered copies of Ward’s video for sale, the Sun reported. He recently announced that his girlfriend, fellow actress Sophie Austin, was pregnant with the couple’s first child. Fellow X Factor star Sam Callahan was hit with a scandal of his own when a nearly identical video hit the internet, one showing Callahan performing a solo sex act. Callahan also explained that he was younger when the video was filmed and that he too was tricked into filming it. “I was young and foolish back then in 2013 and I was young and foolish in 2014 too, unfortunately I wrongly trusted the person I was speaking to at the time and was completely betrayed and catfished,” he told the Sun. “It’s not something that would happen now. I’m way too focused and driven to put myself in that risky situation, but I guess we live and learn.” The same Twitter account that released Shayne Ward’s sex tape had tried to sell copies of Callahan’s, though it ultimately ended up releasing the video the internet instead. It’s not clear in either case if the man caught up in the scandals coughed up any money in an attempt to keep it private. Sam Callahan was hit by another racy photo scandal in 2013 when he was caught sending naked pictures to a model — all while he was dating fellow X Factor finalist Tamera Foster. And just a little more than a week ago, another sex tape scandal rocked footballers Antonio Luna and Sergi Enrich, showing the Eibar players with an unnamed woman. The two issued a public apology for the scandal it caused, the Metro noted. “In light of the circulation on social media of a sexually explicit video in which we, the undersigned, appear, we want to state that the video shows a recording of a private act which took place between fully consenting adults, within the scope of the freedoms we all enjoy,” they wrote. “We deeply regret that an indiscretion for which we are not responsible has led to these images being published without our knowledge or, far less, our consent.” In the past, leaked videos of this kind have often led to police investigations, but it is not yet clear if British authorities are looking into Shayne Ward’s sex tape leak.
